Especially for time adjustment elements and mainspring. Lighter fluid sucks out the oil, even on the mainspring, so even though the movement will run good for a while. You still have to disassemble the movement and oil and often still clean as it is good for removing gunked oil, but not everything. Sometimes it'll get the watch running like a miracle. You can dunk the whole movement in including the dial and then dry it by holding it in your hand and have hair dryer dry it. Does a hell of a job getting rid of old gummed up oil and leaves it sparkling clean. Take note if it sounds better in one direction vs another.ģ. Also, you can hold the watch in various positions and the tick-tock sound will sound the same. If you put your finger on balance wheel rim and wiggle and don't feel much end play then it is probably ok. There is also a way to loosen but not too much. What this does (I think.) is kinda reform the surface a bit more freindly to each other. And then turn the balance wheel by finger back and forth. Sometimes I get away with tightening down one of the pivot barrel caps enough so that the balance quits turning free. I hate trying the squeeze your eyelids to hold it kind.Ģ. I'm always swapping between my 20x and my magnivisor. For casual observing I have a magnivsor about 7x I think. Makes all the difference in the world.!!!!
