The reasons a-S episodes are larger, is because they seems to have sharpened the picture and made the lines thicker.Īs a sidenote of personal preference, I prefer the a-S subs.

Either way, I urge you to download them both and let your eyes decide which is the better one.Īlso do not judge episodes by their size.

I do not blame DBNL for the high brightness, but rather the original media comes like this. Sadly a bad side-effect of the thicker lines, is that the subtle line pixel crawling of the original, become more visible. But with that said, since the lines are thicker, some of the finer ones look much better in the a-S release, than the DBNL that they seem to almost vanish (at times). That result with the whole picture looking a bit more sharp than DBNL's but also some lines look pixely and uneven at some points. Also they seem to have used a filter to make lines thicker, so lines will not look all thin. Well at least some of the episodes feels washed out, but not all.Ī-S on the other hand has enhanced the picture by making it less bright and the colors do not explode in your eyes either. I fix that by lowering the gamma of the player, but the original is very bright. A difference I found though is that DBNL's release brightness is too high. I want to say to people that are split between the Dragon Box releases, that it is better to download a couple episodes from both DBNL and a-S and check them out.ĭBNL by all means seems to have a better Dragon Box quality release. overall, 7.5/10Ģ016 and I decided to watch DBZ after half a lifetime. It is annoying that there arent any episode recaps in the beginning, and that the intro/end are cut off, but those are released seperately, so its ok if you make a playlist where the intro/end play between episodes. Anime supreme's release is pretty good, at least compared to others i've seen - notably anime-hq.Ī-s uses original japanese releases (dragonbox, as mentioned on this thread), so its uncropped and the only changes from what i can tell are dirt removal from the picture etc.
